PlantersFIRST originated through Planters Bank, which was chartered in 1896 in Hawkinsville, Georgia.

In 1969, a group of directors from Planters Bank decided to purchase the Bank of Finleyson, which was chartered in 1910 and located in Finleyson, Georgia. The Finleyson bank was given a new name, "Pineview State Bank" and relocated to its present location in Pineview, Georgia.

In 1985, Planters Bank purchased Cordele Banking Company which was chartered in 1927 and which was located in Cordele, Georgia. At this time, a holding company was formed and named, Mid State Banks, Inc.

In 1996, Mid State Banks, Inc. purchased First State Bank of Ocilla, which was chartered in 1903. Immediately, First State expanded by opening an office in neighboring Fitzgerald.

In April 2000, Mid State Banks, Inc. chose to unite the sister banks into a branch system. This union brought about our present name of PlantersFIRST.

As evidenced by our original charters, each bank added long-term strengths and stability to our organization.

Today, we provide a full range of services in and around Ben Hill County, Crisp County, Houston County, Irwin County, Pulaski County and Wilcox County.
